Diversity in Writing

Eastern (NY) Time

To ensure we represent our community of readers, thoughtful writers strive to create diverse characters. This usually means demographic heterogeneity: age, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc. Including characters from a variety of backgrounds creates interesting and inclusive stories.

However, diversity has more layers. These are elements of experience that impact our decision-making, the relationships we form, the inner wounds we carry, and, in general, how we see the world.

On October 17, I’m giving a talk on these additional domains of diversity. You are welcome to join me. Let me know below if you’d like to receive the link.
